“What Do We Have Here?”— Exploring the Belimo Gas Monitor

In the latest episode of What Do We Have Here?, host Tim Bonner sits down with David Ward, District Sales Manager for North & Central Florida at Belimo, to dive into one of the most essential devices for modern buildings — the Belimo Gas Monitor.
This compact yet powerful system is redefining how facilities monitor and maintain air quality, providing flexibility, safety, and smarter building automation.

Host: Tim Bonner (Stromquist)
Guest: David Ward (Belimo)
Topic: Belimo Gas Monitor

Small Device, Big Impact
As David explains in the episode, Belimo is known for creating “small devices that have a big impact” — and nothing proves that better than the Belimo Gas Monitor.
Air quality is something every facility depends on, and this product ensures precise monitoring of critical gases like CO and NO2. The monitor comes in three model types (A, B, and C), each designed for different configurations:
  • Model A: CAN bus, BACnet MSTP, analog signal + one relay
  • Model B: Removes analog output, adds two relays
  • Model C: CAN bus only, no relays or analog outputs
With these flexible options, the Belimo Gas Monitor can be easily integrated into new or existing building automation systems.

Smarter Network Integration
One of the biggest advantages? You can connect up to 32 devices on a single network — meaning just one BACnet point can manage an entire array of CAN bus sensors.
This approach reduces wiring complexity, minimizes cost, and makes it simple to scale monitoring across large facilities like parking garages, warehouses, or manufacturing plants.

Easy Setup, Smarter Maintenance
Inside, the Belimo Gas Monitor is built for practicality. It includes:
  • An 80-decibel horn for alarms
  • LED indicators for three alert levels
  • A simple menu display with programmable thresholds
Maintenance is easier than ever thanks to hot-swappable sensors — no powering down or reprogramming required. Belimo even provides calibration kits and recommends yearly maintenance to ensure long-term accuracy.
And for facilities with varying ceiling heights, there’s a high-low mounting kit, allowing optimal sensor placement for both CO and NO2 detection.

Belimo Training & Certification

For the first time, Belimo is offering a certification class for technicians who want to become authorized service providers.
This in-depth, day-and-a-half program covers programming, calibration, and troubleshooting. Once certified, technicians are added to Belimo’s official service registry, helping customers easily find qualified professionals in their area.
