Audible Noise Issue on Resense Move

Distech Controls identified a noise issue in some Resense Move units after extended use.

Why it matters: This issue may manifest in quiet or enclosed spaces, but it doesn’t affect occupancy detection, people counting, network communications, product operation, or safety.

Temporary fix: Customers can use a software reboot via the ECLYPSE Facilities interface as a workaround.

  • Customers will be notified about a corrective firmware update soon.
What’s next: Review your devices to determine if they are affected and apply the temporary fix if needed.

Resense Move Audible Noise Issue: What Customers Need to Know

Distech Controls has identified an audible noise condition that may develop in certain Resense Move units after extended continuous operation. Below, we explain which devices may be affected, what the issue means for your system, and the temporary step that can be taken while a corrective firmware update is prepared.

Notice published July 27, 2026

What issue has been identified?

After extended continuous operation, some Resense Move devices may develop a continuous or intermittent audible noise generated by internal components. The sound may be more noticeable in quiet or enclosed environments, including offices, conference rooms, meeting spaces, and other low-noise areas.

Affected products: Resense Move devices identified as version v10R and above.

Does this affect product operation?

No impact has been identified on occupancy detection, people counting, network communications, normal product operation, or product safety. The issue is limited to an audible sound that may be perceived by building occupants.

What remains unaffected?

Detection Performance Occupancy detection and people counting continue to operate normally.
System Communications Network communication and connectivity are not impacted.
Product Safety No product safety concern has been identified.

How can you identify an affected unit?

An affected device may produce a noticeable continuous or intermittent sound during normal operation. Because the issue is acoustic rather than functional, it may be easiest to identify in a quiet room or when ambient noise levels are low.

If a sound is reported, confirm that it is coming from the Resense Move device before taking further action.

Temporary workaround

A software reboot of the Resense Move device through the ECLYPSE Facilities interface will temporarily eliminate the audible noise.

  1. Open the ECLYPSE Facilities interface associated with the installed Resense Move device.
  2. Locate the affected Resense Move unit within the system.
  3. Perform a software reboot of the device.
  4. Confirm that the audible noise has stopped following the reboot.
Please note: The sound may return after additional operation. The reboot is a temporary workaround and does not replace the corrective firmware update.

Corrective firmware update

Distech Controls is preparing a firmware update designed to optimize the operation of the internal components and reduce the likelihood of the audible noise developing during long-term operation.

The update is expected to be made available through Software Center and will also be deployed on newly manufactured units. Distech indicated an anticipated resolution timeframe of August 2026, although a specific release date was not included in the original notice.

What should customers do now?

Customers who are not experiencing an audible noise do not need to take immediate action. If a noise is present, the temporary reboot procedure can be used while awaiting the firmware update.

We recommend documenting the affected device and location so the appropriate firmware update can be applied once it becomes available.
