  • More processing power & memory: Quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB flash for faster boot and station load times.
  • Modern security: Designed to align with the latest Niagara cybersecurity standards.
  • Built for Niagara 5: JACE-9000 is the Tridium controller platform that will support N5; JACE-8000 will not be upgradable to Niagara 5.
  • Protect your investment: Transfer your existing JACE-8000 license and SMA value instead of buying a brand-new license.

How the JACE 8000 to 9000 promo works

In short: Buy JACE-9000 hardware, transfer your licensed JACE-8000 to it, and send back the original SD card—pay only the license transfer fee.

  1. Confirm eligibility (see checklist on the right).
  2. Purchase an unlicensed JACE-9000 + SD card through Stromquist.
  3. Request a license transfer from your Tridium channel using part code LIC-CHG-UPG (license change / upgrade fee per JACE).
  4. Move your station & options to the JACE-9000 following Tridium’s migration process.
  5. Return the original JACE-8000 SD card to Tridium within 45 days of the license change to avoid being charged for JACE-9000 software.

During migration, your Niagara maintenance (SMA) end date moves to the new JACE-9000 license, so you keep the remaining SMA time from your JACE-8000.

Note: The SD card for the 8000 unit MUST be sent back to Tridium as part of the promo

What happens to my license options?

  • Tridium-owned software options move to the JACE-9000 if there is a compatible version. If no JACE-9000 equivalent exists, those options are moved to stock.
  • Subscription software options owned by Tridium (including Niagara Cloud Suite bundles) transfer to the new JACE-9000 license.
  • Third-party software options on the JACE-8000 license are moved to your stock—check with each vendor for Niagara 5–ready releases.
  • Niagara Cloud Suite™ (NCS) bundles move with your license, and the cloud portal is updated with the new host ID for your JACE-9000.

Note: The migration process is not reversible. Be sure the JACE-9000 hardware and any required third-party drivers are ready before you initiate the transfer.

Eligibility checklist:

  • You have a JACE-8000 or 834 with an active, non-expired SMA.
  • The JACE-8000 license is active and current (SMA end date in the future).
  • You purchase unlicensed JACE-9000 hardware + SD card (unlicensed state, owned by you).
  • You agree to pay the license transfer fee (LIC-CHG-UPG) for each license migrated.
  • You will return the original JACE-8000 SD card to Tridium within 45 days of the transfer. *MANDATORY
  • You have reviewed third-party driver support for Niagara 5 with the respective vendors.

This promotion applies to production JACE-8000 licenses with active SMA. DEMO licenses are not eligible.

Niagara 5 at a glance

  • N5 release timing: GA targeted for Q3 2026, following alpha (late 2025), Early Access (Q1 2026), and Beta (Q2 2026).
  • N4 4.15 LTS: Last N4 version and Long-Term Support release, with updates through Q3 2028.
  • JACE-9000 path to N5: JACE-9000 is the Tridium platform designed to migrate from Niagara 4 to Niagara 5.
  • JACE-8000 & N5: JACE-8000 devices will not be upgradable to Niagara 5.
  • SMA still matters: Active SMAs are required for N4-to-N5 upgrades (JACE-9000 and Supervisors); additional migration fees may apply.

Before N5 migration, stations must be upgraded to Niagara 4.15 LTS, and any N4 third-party modules must be confirmed compatible with N5.

Quick FAQs

Does the promo automatically put Niagara 5 on my JACE-9000? No. The transferred license will be compatible with N5, but N5 itself is a separate upgrade once released.
Can I re-use my JACE-8000 hardware? Yes. Once the license is transferred, the JACE-8000 hardware becomes unlicensed and can be re-licensed or kept as a spare. The old SD card will remain in a traded state and cannot be reused.
How many licenses can I migrate at once? The program is intended for migrating one license at a time.
What about mixed AX, N4, and N5 systems? Niagara 5 Supervisors will support station-to-station communication with AX, N4, and N5 devices. The Supervisor should always run the highest Niagara version in the system.
